About a month ago, Lev gave me the power to give homeworks and lessons out in his absence. So what better way to start off than with the new Artifact archetype?

As the title explains, the new Artifact archetype has proven to me multiple times that it's just way too good. I didn't get a chance to screen the duel but here's what happened:

Turn 1: I set 2 Artifact monsters, Malevolent Catastrophe and Theosophy of the Artifacts. End turn.

Turn 2: Opponent summons Armageddon Knight; sends Inzektor Hornet to the grave. I activate Theosophy to special summon Artifact Beagalltach; Beagalltach effect used to destroy the two set Artifacts I have, then special summon them with their effects. Effect of two more Artifacts activate in my hand when the two on the field were destroyed, letting me summon them; I now have five Artifact monsters on the field. End Turn.

Turn 3: I overlay for Artifact Durandall. Opponent quits.

As you can see, in one turn with one card, I managed to get out five Artifact monsters that are protected from card effects and battle during that turn, then the next turn if the opponent did not quit, I would've XYZ'd it up. Artifacts, as much as I love them, are WAY TOO GOOD in too many ways. They're extraordinarily fast, and chain like no tomorrow with just one card. Here's your assignment:

Study up on this new archetype some, then create a deck (If you don't have one already) that has the best cards to stop this new monstrosity. Then, screenshot a duel against an Artifact user and show me the victory. This assignment is worth 100 CS.

Ok this is off topic and I am relatively new to this site so im not sure where I should put this, but you should make an assignment for everyone to make a rare deck almost no one uses and get a win with it then take a pic. It would be interesting get people to try new things. (I think)

I thought I should put my two cents in and just talk about the artifacts in this topic.

So in Japan they obviously already released the artifacts. In the regionals at Japan artifacts already won with a somewhat unusual tech idea. The person teched in Traptrix.

There is the deck list. I will just cover OCG cards in this paragraph. Traptrix Dionaea is one we do not have yet. This card special summons a traptrix monster from the grave. If she special summons dionaea, he resets a bottomless from the grave until his next turn when it is banished if not used. If he special summons myrmello, then he gets to pop a card. After special summoning he has a large line of ridiculously good rank 4s to go into. One thing to notice is that there are two bottomless in his build because bottomless is at 2 in the OCG. Konami is giving traptrix support so it may be likely that we get 2 bottomless as well. In the extra deck Dark-Line CainGorGorm can detach to make a new target of a spell. Number 103 Ragna Zero can detach to pop monsters with altered attack, such as fire fist. Afterwards the player draws a card. The fusion monster Panzer Dragon has the effect of when he is destroyed and sent to the graveyard, target and destroy a card on the field. Instant fusion could be used to get it and sit on until he ended his turn and blow up something that was hurting him. The rest of the OCG cards are Artifacts.

One thing that makes artifacts do so good is how many cards they can play and plus off of them. Artifact Movement for example pops a spell/trap card, then sets an artifact from the deck. This puts the artifact player at a 1 card advantage. Moralltach pops a faceup card, also supplying +1 advantages. The traptrix engine also provides backrow removal, monster removal, and rank 4's.

I can imagine for next format unless they get hit prior to the banlist, we will be seeing this as a tier 1 deck.
