PostSubject: CotW Discussion - Wiretap   Wed Jun 11, 2014 5:06 am

The first Card of the Week is Wiretap.

Effect:

Wiretap has been presented to the game in the Dragons of Legend set. Wiretap has gotten a lot of popularity in the meta. Many decks topped running 2-3 Seven Tools of Bandit, but as time went on, less and less people ran it.

Wiretap has replaced seven tools almost entirely. Wiretap does not cost any life points and it causes the card to become a potential dead draw later. Cards like Torrential Tribute and Solemn Warning are only good before your opponent already has an established field. If that card is drawn after, its a dead draw, and wiretap ensures it.

It also came at a really great time. The meta now calls for fiendish chains to be taken out and breakthroughs to be put in. Wiretap can stop that second breakthrough skill effect nicely. Also Artifact Sanctum is a powerful card because if you destroy it, the player pops a card. If you don't, they will get moraltach and pop a card. Seven Tools of Bandit negates AND destroys the card used against. Because of this, using Seven Tools on Sanctum is not a great idea. Wiretap however does not destroy, so it takes care of the sanctums very well.

Cool card Very Happy Now we need one called "Artifact Hate" that banishes all cards in the opponents S/T zone for no cost at all....

That's two cards, too much effort.
