I am going to be straight up, this is going to be a huge rant. If you know what the card does already you will know why it is a rant and not a simple discussion on uses.

Card Info:

Card Type: Normal Spell
Card Text:

Target any number of monsters in your Graveyard; Special Summon them, and if you do, you lose 1000 Life Points for each monster Special Summoned by this effect. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this card. You can only activate 1 "Soul Charge" per turn.

There is so much wrong with this I do not know where to start. Rekindling is at one. Return from a different dimension is banned. Dimension fusion is banned. Cards that mass special summon just by activating never lasts. The only reason Rekindling is at 1 still is it is so specific. Soul Charge is incredibly generic. Any deck that has any graveyard with monsters makes you instantly be able to throw this in and it'll be too strong and win too many games. How fast people can win when they play a card that masses like this is ridiculous.

Now let's go into the absolutely poor wording of the card. More specifically the "and if you do, you lose 1000 Life Points for each monster Special Summoned by this effect." That means if the opponent chains vanity's emptiness, there is no special summon. The player using it won't take any damage for attempting to special summon 5 monsters onto the field. Whats worse is that you take 1000 damage for each after everything is special summoned. This is why in some formats people have soul taker, effects like lightpulsar will miss timing. In this situation, you can NOT bottomless or torrential the monsters if your opponent specials these monsters because it would miss timing. I am dead serious and it is ridiculous!

Now with all the special summon potential the combos to play are ENDLESS as well. Many of you know the infamous 3 card quasar combo. If you have level eater, quickdraw synchron, and synchron explorer, you can make quasar and draw a card off of it. That is NOTHING compared with what this card can do. I will give a TWO card combo first turn quasar you draw 3 cards off of. Let's say you go first. You are at 6 cards in the hand, 8000 life points, no field. By the end of this you have 7 cards in hand, 6000 life points, and quasar. This is for plants and the only weird card to play is a level 2 plant tuner like cherry inmato, which does not hurt the synergy of plant decks. It gives them more diversity even.

1 ) summon lonefire
2 ) tribute lonefire for lonefire
3 ) tribute lonefire for dandylion
4 ) play soul drain, special summoning the 2 lonefires (-2000 life points)
5 ) tribute dandylion using lonefire for cherry inmato (or another lvl 2 plant tuner) (get 2 lvl 1 tokens)
6 ) synchro with dead lonefire and inmato for TG Hyper Librarian
7 ) tribute lonefire via own effect for spore
8 ) synchro with spore and a token for formula synchron (draw 2)
9 ) special summon spore by banishing dandylion or lonefire, thus making it level 4
10 ) synchro with spore and a token for a level 5 synchro (like catastor) (draw 1)
11) synchro for quasar.

Well done Konami. Well done.

I wonder if you can feel the frustration in my voice when i talk about this. This card is just too good and is just far too broken. They JUST banned reborn a couple formats ago (again) so they release an even more broken card. I don't care if someone loses life points or can't attack, it generates so much field advantage and plays that there is almost no getting around it unless you JD, dark hole (which is not very common to play anymore anyway), or spend a crap ton of resources to get around all because of one card!

Leave replies for what you think of the card, any other dirty combos, whether you think I am right or wrong on anything. I want to know what the rest of you think of this card.

I don't think this is a mistake of theirs for being broken... I think its to push a pack that has at best mediocre cards revealed so far (dragons of legends doesn't have anything else noteworthy so far other than kuribandit and mathmetician, which I may go into another time about why they are mediocre and will see some play but not as much as many seem to think.

I must make an apology here. Due to a relatively recent article by Konami, if a card effect says "and if you do," the previous effect and the one after that statement are simultaneous, despite reasoning of wording. You actually can Bottomless Trap Hole and Solemn Warning them, but the card still remains broken.

If the cost was paying... NOT TARGETING... then it would not be played... maybe 1 in a random deck... (Bujins would play it, Bring that yamato back...)
